Job Summary

Project Head (Civil)

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership & Strategy

• Lead the overall planning, coordination, and execution of civil engineering projects from conception to completion.
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
• Develop and implement strategic project plans, schedules, and budgets using industry-standard tools.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project efficiency, quality, and safety.

• Team Management & Stakeholder Engagement

• Manage, mentor, and motivate multidisciplinary teams of engineers, architects, contractors, and support staff.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, consultants, vendors, and regulatory authorities.

• Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance

• Oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of civil structures, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and regulatory standards.
• Implement robust quality control measures and conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and resolve issues.
• Approve engineering drawings, calculations, and project documentation.

• Contract & Vendor Management

• Administer contracts, negotiate terms, and manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
• Ensure timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services, optimizing cost and resource utilization.

• Compliance, Safety & Risk Management

• Ensure strict compliance with national and local construction laws, codes, and safety regulations.
• Promote a culture of safety, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Maintain documentation for audits, regulatory inspections, and project close-out.

• Reporting & Communication

• Prepare and present project reports, progress updates, and financial summaries to senior management and clients.
• Maintain transparent communication channels for project status, risks, and milestones.

• Innovation & Technology Adoption

• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and best practices.
• Champion the adoption of digital tools for project management, design, and collaboration.

Required Qualifications

• Educational Background

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university (mandatory).
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
• Additional certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are highly desirable.

• Professional Certifications

• Valid registration with professional bodies (e.g., Institution of Engineers India, Council of Architecture, or equivalent).
• Certifications in safety management, quality assurance, or specialized construction domains are advantageous.

• Technical Proficiency

• Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and materials.
• Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6), AutoCAD, BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks), and MS Office Suite.
• Familiarity with national and international building codes, standards (NBC, IS codes), and regulatory frameworks.

• Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge

• Thorough understanding of Indian construction laws, labor regulations (BOCW Act), and environmental standards.
• Experience in preparing and managing documentation for statutory approvals, audits, and certifications.

Experience

• Minimum Experience Required:

  15+ years in civil engineering and construction project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or head-of-project role.

• Industry Exposure:

  Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale infrastructure, commercial, residential, or industrial projects in India.

• Track Record:

  Proven success in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
