ABOUT VIDHI

The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy (“Vidhi”) is an independent think tank doing legal research to make better laws and improve governance for the public good. Vidhi is committed to producing legal research of the highest standard with the aim of informing public debate and contributing to improved governance. Vidhi works with Ministries of the Government of India and State Governments, as well as other public institutions, providing research and drafting support at various stages of law-making. Vidhi also conducts and freely disseminates independent research in areas of legal reform which it believes is critical to India’s future. Vidhi Karnataka works with the Karnataka State Government, local authorities and other bodies based in the state on legal issues of local concern. ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Project Fellow will be expected to:

• Undertake high quality research on issues related to the legal aspects of urban governance, climate, social welfare, among other areas that are within the purview of the State Government under the Constitution.
• Prepare quality reports, research notes and presentations.
• Attend meetings with government officials.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements

• An undergraduate degree in law.
• 0-3 years of work experience, (a master’s degree will be counted as one year of work experience).
• A prior engagement in climate-related work will be useful for this role.
• Good research and writing skills.
• Excellent communication skills
• A working knowledge of Marathi would be beneficial but is not mandatory.

LOCATION AND REMUNERATION

• This is a full-time position based out of Bengaluru, for a period of 3 months.
• Remuneration will be competitive, in line with experience and existing structure at Vidhi.
