Project Estimation Manager

Job Title: Project Estimation Engineer Genset Division

Department: Projects / Sales Engineering / Genset Division

Reporting To: Manager Genset Division

Location: [Pune]

Job Purpose:

To prepare accurate and competitive techno-commercial project estimates for generator sets (Diesel / Gas / Hybrid), including sizing, costing, and tender documentation, ensuring profitability, compliance with client requirements, and alignment with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Estimation & Costing

* Study project requirements, tender documents, and client specifications for Genset-related projects.

* Prepare cost estimates including equipment, accessories, installation, cabling, and commissioning.

* Evaluate BOQs and technical drawings to determine material, labor, and service requirements.

* Coordinate with OEMs and suppliers for price quotations and technical clarifications.

* Develop complete cost sheets and project estimation reports for management review.

2. Technical Evaluation

* Select appropriate genset capacity based on load calculation, site conditions, and application type.

* Review generator configuration—engine, alternator, control panel, acoustic enclosure, and fuel system.

* Ensure compliance with industry standards, statutory norms, and client specifications.

3. Tender & Proposal Preparation

* Prepare and submit detailed techno-commercial proposals for government and corporate tenders.

* Ensure timely submission of bids with complete documentation and compliance statements.

* Assist in negotiation support and respond to client technical queries.

4. Coordination & Support

* Work closely with the sales, design, and procurement teams to ensure accurate costing and feasibility.

* Support project handover to the execution team after order finalization.

* Maintain records of historical costs and update pricing databases for future estimations.

5. Analysis & Reporting

* Analyse cost variations and suggest improvements in estimation accuracy.

* Prepare periodic MIS reports on estimation trends and win/loss analysis.

Key Skills & Competencies:

* Strong knowledge of diesel/gas generator systems and associated equipment.

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical SLDs, and tender documents.

* Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD (preferred), and ERP-based costing tools.

* Good communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.

* Attention to detail and accuracy under tight timelines.

Qualification & Experience:

Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.

Experience: 3–8 years of experience in estimation or project costing in the Genset / Power / EPC industry.
