Role Overview

As a Product Development Senior Scientist, you will lead end-to-end product innovation and development projects in skin care, cosmetic, and oral care categories You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, formulate, and commercialize new products, ensuring regulatory compliance, consumer safety, and product performance This is a leadership role for a hands-on innovator who thrives in a fast-paced, solution-driven environment

Key Responsibilities

Lead the formulation and development of new and innovative personal care products (skin care, cosmetics, oral care) Translate client briefs, market trends, and consumer insights into viable product concepts Conduct ingredient research and collaborate with suppliers to identify cutting-edge raw materials Create prototypes and conduct stability, compatibility, and performance testing Ensure formulations meet regulatory standards, brand specifications, and quality benchmarks Work closely with marketing, regulatory, QA/QC, packaging, and manufacturing teams throughout the development lifecycle Provide technical support during scale-up and production trials Mentor junior scientists and assist in building technical capabilities within the R&D team Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and scientific advancements

Hard Skills

Expertise in formulation chemistry for skin care, cosmetic, and/or oral care products Strong knowledge of raw materials, INCI nomenclature, preservatives, and active delivery systems Experience with lab equipment, prototype batching, and performance testing Familiarity with global regulatory requirements (FDA, BIS, EU, ASEAN, etc) Proficiency in MS Office and formulation/documentation software

Soft Skills

Innovation-driven mindset with strong problem-solving abilities Excellent project management and multitasking skills Strong communication and presentation abilities Attention to detail with a proactive, hands-on approach Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team leader

Education

B Tech / M Tech Cosmetics

Preferred Experience

6+ years of relevant experience in product development within the personal care, cosmetic, or oral care industry Proven track record of successful product launches and innovations Experience working in a private label manufacturing or contract development setting is a strong plus
