Procurement Officer

Industry:

Proficiency in the local language is essential for negotiations, site coordination, vendor management, and interaction with local authorities.

Job Purpose

To plan, execute, and control procurement activities for construction projects, ensuring timely availability of materials, cost optimization, quality compliance, and adherence to project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify material requirements as per BOQ, drawings, and construction schedules.
  
• Float RFQs/RFPs, evaluate techno-commercial bids, and negotiate with vendors.
  
• Prepare comparative statements (CS) and obtain internal approvals.
  
• Finalize purchase orders (POs) and work orders in line with company policy.
  
• Coordinate with project, planning, QA/QC, and stores teams for timely deliveries.
  
• Ensure materials comply with approved makes, specifications, and quality standards.
  
• Track deliveries, manage lead times, and resolve supply-related issues at site.
  
• Monitor inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
  
• Maintain procurement documentation, MIS, and ERP updates.
  
• Support vendor development and maintain approved vendor lists.
  

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of construction materials (cement, steel, aggregates, MEP, finishing items).
  
• Vendor negotiation and cost-control skills.
  
• Understanding of BOQ, drawings, and project schedules.
  
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/SAP procurement modules.
  
• Good coordination, communication, and documentation skills.
  

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Civil Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
  
• Exposure to EPC / industrial / warehouse construction projects preferred.
