Procurement Lead

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete procurement cycle for electrical, instrumentation, automation systems (DCS, BMS, EMS), field instruments, safety systems, and related project materials.
  
• Lead sourcing, vendor identification, RFQs, quotation analysis, and negotiation to secure best-value deals.
  
• Conduct techno-commercial evaluations in coordination with engineering and project teams.
  
• Execute cost estimation based on raw material analysis, past pricing data, and market trends.
  

Purchase Order Management

• Create and release Purchase Orders through SAP (MM Module).
  
• Monitor and ensure OTIF (On Time In Full) delivery performance across all orders.
  
• Handle amendments, logistics coordination, delivery scheduling, and post-order follow-up.
  
• Manage Letters of Credit (LCs), delayed delivery (LD) implications, and other contractual elements.
  

Vendor Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and global suppliers.
  
• Conduct vendor assessments and expand qualified vendor base.
  
• Facilitate resolution of technical queries between vendors and internal engineering teams.
  
• Manage returns, rejection handling, and credit notes for damaged or incorrect materials.
  

Project Procurement

• Lead procurement for multiple plant locations and project sites, including domestic and international facilities.
  
• Coordinate procurement needs for EPC-style projects involving steel, refinery, power, and pharma sectors.
  
• Finalize electrical contractors and rate/umbrella contracts for high-value categories.
  

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Collaborate with finance for payment processing, budget approvals, and reconciliation.
  
• Support external and internal audit requirements related to procurement.
  
• Work closely with logistics, engineering, design, and project teams for seamless supply execution.
  

E-Procurement Tools

• Conduct e-tenders and e-bidding events using platforms like ARIBA.
  
• Prepare comparative statements, commercial justifications, and approval notes.

Education

• B.E. Electrical Engineering (First Class/Distinction)
  

Experience Required

• 12-18 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or project purchasing
  
• Experience in , Oil & Gas, Power, Steel, EPC, or large manufacturing setups preferred
