About Show Group
Show Group has been managing complex travel logistics since 1979 and we’re still as excited about it today with the support of our CTM family. We believe our decades of specialised industry experience combined with awesome technology and a whole lot of passion delivers a compelling solution for our customers.
Entertainment travel logistics at times presents seemingly unsolvable situations but at Show Group we use our curiosity, creativity, lateral thinking and tenacity to solve for when “not available” is just not an option.
About the Role
The Principal Travel Specialist role is an elite level one that manages all aspects of “high touch” travel logistics of key entertainment and media organisation.
You’ll be working with a variety of stakeholders such as Travel Managers, Travel Arrangers, Suppliers and Travellers both offline and service online bookings, all the while immersing yourself into their culture.
You’ll be in control of planning, negotiating, quoting, booking and invoicing RPT air and charters, accommodation, vehicles, excess baggage, equipment & ancillaries, meet & greet, group travel, artist’s rider and other services and logistic needs in a self-sufficient capacity.
The role services large & complex premier organisations, high-profile & public-profile travellers, C-suite, executives, artist/talent, frequent travellers and others across FIT & Groups. A “VIP” service standard is the benchmark, ensuring excellence across the portfolio. Critically, you’ll mitigate financial loss from avoidable errors while maintaining top-tier service delivery, driving exceptional customer success and engagement outcomes.
As an elite member of the team, you’ll act as a mentor to guide, train and share your knowledge with other staff across Show Group as well as direct Travel Specialists who may be assigned an “assist” capacity to support your account due to its scale. You’ll align closely with HoV and may act in a 2IC capacity if required.
At your elite level, customers may formally request you to manage and lead their account and other staff will recognise you as a role model to aspire to, both within Show Group and externally.
Working in entertainment travel doesn't always adhere to a typical 9-5 office hours. At times we all need to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers and the production schedule. As a result, there may be instances where you may need to work beyond regular office hours to fulfil commitments and be available after hours in extenuating circumstances where the account could be in jeopardy or risk.
Embrace and demonstrate the company values of “Connect, Deliver & Evolve”.
About You
Working with Entertainment and Sports industries is nothing like typical travel job. You’ll be dealing with high-profile clients, creative personalities, and fast-moving projects where expectations are high. These industries are unconventional and often demanding, requiring a level of flexibility and precision that goes beyond the norm.
You’ll demonstrate “having agency” to make decisions that shape outcomes rather than passively taking orders, all the while taking personal responsibility of your actions. Most importantly, you’ve got “hustle”, that street-smart edge that refuses to settle, fights for the best deal, applies smart mark-ups and keeps pushing until you’ve secured the best possible outcome.
The ability to communicate in an objective mature manner when long hours, exhausting schedules and competing priorities may start to influence stakeholder temperaments.
At its core, this role is about elevated level of service delivery where the customer relies on you to ensure every detail is right and every deadline is met.
Depending on the size and calibre of the account, even small, avoidable mistakes can have a big impact, so attention to detail and proactive communication are key to thriving in this role.
Skills & Experience
At an elite level, this role is best suited to an existing Senior Travel Specialist who can demonstrate the necessary experience, CV of customer accounts, maturity within the vertical and seamlessly transition to large complex “at scale” customers *or* direct entry candidate with the same qualifications.
