Principal Software Engineer

Allstate Roadside Services (ARS) is recruiting Associate Principal Software Engineer to join our Engineering team. Our common goal is to build digital products that support the strategy of Allstate Roadside Services, a division within the Allstate brand that provides roadside rescues for our customers. Driving quality by leveraging test-driven development with continuous integration & continuous delivery is key to our engineering approach. We value independent thinking and continuously learning technology skills to build digital products that will fundamentally change safety on the roadways for drivers who need an immediate rescue.

What you'll do

• Work in a self-directed and self-managed manner
  • Learn the business domain and produce holistic solutions to business problems • Drive critical phases of Software Engineering work from inception and throughout the CI/CD lifecycle • Promote principles of key areas of concern such as availability, scalability, maintainability, and security • Challenge approaches, make reasonable compromises, and recommend solutions to address shortcomings • Actively engage in team ceremonies including Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, and Retrospective • Actively participate in the effort defining development best practices, participate in design/code reviews and process improvements • Ability to break down business problems into solvable components to recommend solutions • Ability to plan and prioritize requirements • Setting up and leading development team • Communicates effectively to ensure high quality and timely completion of projects. • Good interpersonal, verbal, listening and written communication skills

Primary Skills

• Minimum 8 years of hands-on programming experience in Java development, Java - Version 1.8, Java Core and Collections
  • Spring Framework - Spring Boot, Spring REST, Spring Web, Spring ORM, JPA and Hibernate • 2 - 4 years of hands-on programming experience on React JS + Redux • 2-4 years of hands-on experience with SQL and PL/SQL
• 2-4 years of hands-on experience with cloud technology
  • Working knowledge of backend database integration • Experience in Design and Implementing REST Services • Exposure to test driven development and writing JUnits, Integration Tests • Source Control Management (preferably Git/GitHub) • Application Support experience • Experience working with DevOps tools such as Gradle and Jenkins • Experience working with containerized technologies such Tanzu Application Service (formerly PCF), Docker, and Kubernetes • Proven ability to quickly evaluate and learn unfamiliar processes and tools • Solid understanding of Agile development principles

Who you are

• Minimum 8- 12 years of experience delivering products and Product capabilities with delivery accountability
• Strong experience on Java full stack development, Spring boot, Micro Services, React JS, API and Architecture and design

• The individual should have engineering background and played role of technical lead or architect & moved up in the career path.

Shift Timing

13:00 PM - 21:30 PM (Monday thru Friday)

Lead expected to join ECC calls when required irrespective of time of day and provide oversight for any activities scheduled for weekend
