Principal Engineer

Role Overview: You will be the Principal Engineer for Developer services at Barclays, responsible for leading all aspects of design, build, and management of tools and shared components. Your role will involve defining the Developer services strategy, providing technical leadership, mentorship, and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the organization. Key Responsibilities: - Be the recognized expert within CTO and the firm for Developer services - Set the strategic direction and provide visionary leadership for the Developer services strategy - Drive a modern developer tool ecosystem to enhance engineering experience - Build partnerships for cross-organization collaboration - Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements for Developer productivity - Develop, customize, and integrate tools to streamline processes and boost productivity - Implement security measures to meet compliance and regulatory needs - Monitor, identify bottlenecks, and optimize container development loops for efficiency Qualifications Required: - Extensive experience in financial services and technology roles - Proficiency in designing, delivering, and fixing large-scale software systems - Strong track record of collaborative work and relationship development in a global organization - Application of leading-edge leadership and development practices - Highly organized, diligent, and skilled in managing complex projects - Excellent technical communication skills and ability to command respect from peers and junior engineers Additional Company Details: Barclays expects all Senior Leaders to demonstrate leadership behaviours focusing on creating an environment for colleagues to thrive and deliver at an excellent standard.
