Principal Data Engineer

As the Principal Data Engineer, you will lead the data engineering team and assist in formulating the organizational data strategy. Your responsibilities will include working with cloud analytics platform owners and business stakeholders to align with business objectives. You will play a vital role in defining the organizational data strategy, ensuring data quality standards, data flow, and data security. Your expertise will be crucial in translating business requirements into technical specifications and creating a blueprint for an integrated framework of accessible, secure data aligned with business strategies. Moreover, you will lead the Data Engineering team in agile delivery, supporting Product Owners in defining requirements and delivery timelines. Key Responsibilities: - Guide and Mentor Team Members: Lead, coach, and mentor Data Engineers and ML Engineers to deliver innovative data solutions. Collaborate closely with BI Engineers and Data Scientists. - Foster Collaboration: Create a collaborative team environment that encourages open communication and knowledge sharing. - Drive Technical Excellence: Set high standards for technical excellence and ensure adherence to best practices in data engineering, analytics, and operations. - Support Professional Development: Identify and support the professional growth of team members. - Strategic Vision: Develop and communicate a clear vision for the data engineering team, aligning team goals with the overall business strategy. - Define Future Data Architecture: Establish the future state of data architecture and infrastructure to align with business goals. - Conceptual Data Modeling: Model business data conceptually and independently of applications, creating a blueprint for accessible, secure data. - Best Practices and Knowledge Sharing: Share best-practice knowledge among the solutions architect community. - Requirement Gathering and Delivery: Liaise with product owners and business teams to gather requirements for data-driven projects. - Project Guidance and Coordination: Advise and support projects regarding data matters, providing guidance on best practices. - Cloud Infrastructure Partnership: Collaborate with Cloud Solution Architects to ensure cloud infrastructure meets data analytics needs. Qualifications Required: - Knowledge of systems development, including solution architecture, data lifecycle management, and data architecture and engineering. - Proficiency in data modeling and design. - Experience with programming languages such as Python and SQL. - Familiarity with multi-cloud architecture, including GCP and Azure. - Understanding and experience with AI/ML technology. - Implementation skills in common data management and reporting technologies. - Familiarity with columnar and NoSQL databases, data visualization, and unstructured data.
