PowerBI /Tableau/Cognos/ MicroStrategy/Sigma/QlikView
ETL reporting Tools. Administrator is a key figure within an organization responsible for overseeing and managing the Tableau environment, ensuring its smooth operation, security, and optimal performance. Overall responsible for the overall management, maintenance, and support of an IBM Cognos Business Intelligence (BI) environment. This role ensures that businesses can effectively utilize Cognos software for reporting, analytics, and forecasting by providing seamless operation and high availability of the BI infrastructure. Ensuring the optimal performance, security, and availability of QlikView applications and data.

including its architecture and administration.
- Power BI Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing an organizations Power BI environment, encompassing configuration, security, performance, and user support
- Overseeing the Power BI platform, including its configuration, security, and overall health
- Managing user roles, permissions, and licenses within the Power BI service to ensure appropriate access and compliance.
- Connecting to and managing data sources, ensuring data quality, and implementing data governance policies.
- Monitoring the performance of reports, dashboards, and datasets, and optimizing them for efficiency. This also includes capacity planning for Power BI Premium
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Power BI gateways and ensuring seamless data flow.
- Providing technical assistance to end-users, debugging issues, and resolving problems related to Power BI solutions.
- Creating documentation for Power BI processes and providing training to users on its administration and usage.
- Working with business teams, developers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective Power BI solutions.
- Proficiency in Power BI administration tasks and the Power BI Service.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, DAX queries, and data visualization best practices.
- Experience with data sources like SQL, Azure services, and APIs.

- Administration & Support: Administering and supporting the IBM Cognos BI environment, including server management and network tasks.
- Installation & Configuration: Installing, configuring, and upgrading Cognos software. This includes setting up database connections and configuring the environment for optimal performance.
- Performance Monitoring & Tuning: Monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to ensure smooth operation. This may involve performance tuning, optimizing reports, and managing server components.
- Security & Access Management: Implementing security measures, managing user access permissions, and ensuring compliance with data governance policies. This includes defining security for packages, folders, and reports.
- Data Modeling & Reporting: Collaborating with business units to understand reporting requirements and implement/maintain data models and reporting standards. This includes working with Framework Manager for data modeling and package creation.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Proactively finding and fixing potential security vulnerabilities and technical issues related to the Cognos environment.
- Documentation & Training: Creating technical documents, documenting system setups and best practices, and providing training and support to end-users.

- Install, configure, and maintain MicroStrategy environments across development, QA, and production, including monitoring system performance and implementing proactive optimization.
- Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions, ensuring compliance with security policies and providing access to data.
- Conduct performance testing and troubleshooting for reports, dashboards, and the overall MicroStrategy infrastructure, including SQL query optimization and VLDB properties.
- Address incidents and troubleshoot issues related to server outages, project accessibility, and reporting problems, providing support to both internal and external clients.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery plans, perform version upgrades, patches, and hotfixes, and maintain system documentation and logs.
- Maintain correct data source availability, develop and maintain schema objects, and monitor Intelligent Cubes and caches
- Automate routine administrative tasks using scripts or MicroStrategy tools.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell for automation.
- Familiarity with IT systems, infrastructure, and security methodologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 support rotation and handle urgent production issues.
Qualification:
- Education: Typically requires a bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Some employers may prefer a masters degree.
- Experience: Proven experience in Cognos administration, preferably in a cloud-based environment. Experience with Cognos configuration, security, report development, dashboard creation, and data modeling is essential.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Cognos architecture and components, proficiency in SQL and database management, and familiarity with BI and data warehousing concepts. Experience with specific Cognos tools like Framework Manager, Report Studio, Query Studio, and Analysis Studio is often required.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills are crucial for success in this role.
