Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL Developer with deep expertise in SQL development, schema design, query optimization, stored procedures, and application integration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building scalable database solutions, writing complex queries, and collaborating with backend/frontend teams to ensure efficient and reliable data access. This role is focused on development and engineering within PostgreSQL.Roles and ResponsibilitiesDatabase Design & DevelopmentDesign normalized and denormalized database schemas for high-performance applications.Develop complex SQL queries, functions, views, triggers, and stored procedures to support application needs.Performance Optimizationhighly efficient queries, ensuring performance and scalability.Couct query tuning and indexing strategies to reduce latency.Optimize data retrieval processes for real-time and batch processing workloads.Application Development IntegrationCollaborate with backend developers to build seamless integrations with PostgreSQL.Support APIs and microservices by designing effective database interaction layers.Work on ETL pipelines and data transformation tasks.Testing & Quality AssuranceWrite unit tests for queries and procedures using tools like pgTAP.Ensure data consistency and accuracy across environments.Perform code reviews for SQL scripts and database logic.Collaboration & DeliveryPartner with product teams to translate business requirements into efficient database solutions.Document database designs, queries, and logic for maintainability.Provide technical guidance to junior developers and peers on best practices in SQL coding.

Primary Skills

Strong expertise in PostgreSQL development (schemas, functions, triggers, views, stored procedures).Advanced skills in SQL query writing and optimization.Hands-on experience with query execution plans and indexing strategies.Experience in data modeling, relational design, and query performance tuning.Stng knowledge of transactions, concurrency control, and isolation levels.Exposure to application development with PostgreSQL (integration with Java, Python, or other languages).Exposure to cloud-hosted PostgreSQL services (AWS RDS/Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL/Spanner).Extensive experience in database performance improvement.Experience in Migration from Legacy DB to Postgres DBHands-on experience with shell scriptingknowledge on Elastics Search

Secondary Skills

Working knowledge of unit testing frameworks for SQL logic (pgTAP, DbUnit).Experience with PostgreSQL extensions (PostGIS, pg_stat_statements, pg_trgm, TimescaleDB)Experience with database backup, recovery, and high availability solutionsProficiency in database security best practices and access controlKnowledge of ETL tools (Apache Airflow, Talend, dbt) and data pipelines.Familiarity with message brokers like Kafka/ActiveMQ for streaming integration.Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines for database code deployment.
