Role Overview: We are seeking skilled Language coaches who are strong at Phonetics to contribute to AI development by analyzing, annotating, and interpreting phonetic and tonal features in voice and speech data. Your expertise will enhance AIs ability to recognize and replicate human speech patterns with greater naturalness and precision in phonetics. What does day-to-day look like: Analyze speech recordings to identify phonetic features, intonation patterns, and prosody. Writing out phonetics is critical , not just reading and pronouncing them. Annotate audio data with detailed phonetic and tonal labels Collaborate with AI researchers, linguists, and engineers to build accurate speech models Provide expert feedback on pronunciation, accent, and articulation patterns Help design and refine phonetic guidelines and annotation protocols Requirements: Degree (Bachelors/Masters or Ph.D.) in Phonetics, Linguistics, or a closely related field Deep understanding of articulatory, acoustic, and auditory phonetics Experience with phonetic transcription systems (e.g., IPA, ToBI) Create detailed transcriptions capturing allophonic and phonetic variations. Familiarity with speech analysis tools (e.g., Praat, ELAN) Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high annotation accuracy Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in speech technology, voice AI, or linguistic data annotation Background in prosody, intonation modeling, or phonological variation Experience working on cross-linguistic phonetic projects Perks of Freelancing With Turing: Work in a fully remote environment.
