The Payroll Tax Partner will be responsible for US Payroll Tax accuracy and maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role will support with the cross-functional relationship with Corporate Tax. Maintains a high standard of quality and accuracy by being proactive in on-time execution of Payroll Tax function. Provide excellent customer service and works closely within HR and other cross functional areas. The Payroll Tax Partner will assist with process and technology improvements that result in increased precision within Payroll Tax function.
What do we want to know about you?
- University degree with 4+ years of relevant payroll and/or payroll tax experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Minimum of 2+ years multi-state and local payroll tax experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Experience with Workday highly preferred.
- Experience with ADP Smart Compliance highly preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing and union environment.
- Must adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business environment.
- Ability to multi-task and work within tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables)
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with a strong customer service orientation.
What will your typical day look like?
- Executes the day-to-day payroll tax responsibilities are executed accurately and in a timely manner which include reconciling all daily tax and wage amounts submitted to ADP; balancing tax liability to cash disbursements, and reconciling gross wages, taxable wages, and tax amounts for multiple legal entities monthly, quarterly, and annually between Workday payroll and ADP.
- Ensures the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all tax filings, amendments and reporting including W-2s and W-2c's.
- Partners with payroll processing team and ADP for accurate and timely set-up, calculation, reporting and payment of payroll taxes.
- Manages HR Service Now tickets and emails for payroll tax issues ensuring timely resolution.
- Completes reconciliations, corrections, root cause analysis, troubleshoot issues and problems.
- Partners with internal and external stakeholders with impacts beyond Payroll Tax based on knowledge of Benefits, HR Systems, HR Analytics, Pay, Finance, and Internal Audit.
- Provides support to Associate Payroll Tax Partners for errors, tax reconciliation, tax rate, new account setup, account closures, tax filing, and amendment issues.
- Maintains strong internal controls related to payroll tax processes and compliance.
- Looks for ways to improve processes and support department operational and transformation initiatives.
- Assists with supporting the relationship with external consultants and ADP.
- Provide various reports and data for internal and external audits as required.
- Perform payroll processing duties as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
