Job Description

As a Patent Analyst Intern, the individual will be responsible for supporting patent-related projects through research, drafting, and analysis. They will collaborate with inventors, researchers, and internal stakeholders to capture the technical details of inventions and prepare well-structured patent specifications. A core aspect of the role includes conducting comprehensive patent searches, prior art, novelty, infringement, validity/invalidity, and patent landscape studies, using specialized patent databases and online tools.
The intern will interpret technical and legal findings to generate insightful, client-ready reports that aid in securing patents or avoiding conflicts with existing technologies. They will also engage directly with inventors and clients to clarify project scope, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure high-quality, timely delivery of work. This role provides hands-on exposure to intellectual property research, patent drafting, and competitive intelligence, building a strong foundation for a career in patents and IP strategy.

Specially, the Patent Analyst Intern will

Work with inventors, researchers, and internal teams to understand technical details of inventions.
Draft clear and accurate patent specifications.
Perform different types of patent searches such as:
- Prior art search
- Novelty search
- Infringement search
- Validity/Invalidity search
- Patent landscape analysis
Use patent databases and online tools to conduct technical and patent literature searches.
Analyze findings and prepare detailed, insightful reports.
Help clients in securing patents or avoiding conflicts with existing technologies.
Maintain proper documentation and ensure quality and timely delivery of work.
Communicate with inventors/clients to clarify the invention scope and project requirements.

Strong technical and analytical skills.
Eagerness to learn about Intellectual Property (IP) and patent systems.
Good command of English (spoken and written).
A team player with a positive and collaborative attitude.
Curiosity about new technologies and innovation.

Technical Skills

Ability to understand and analyze technical and patent-related documents.
Basic knowledge in one or more of the following fields:
Computer Science / Information Technology
Electronics & Communication
Familiarity with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Exposure to patent databases/tools is a plus (training will be provided).

Qualification

B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech (Electronics & Communication, Computer Science Engineering, Telecommunication and equivalent)
