Job Summary

Title: Packaging Development Scientist Nutrition / Nutraceuticals

Suggested Grade: Individual contributor role

Minimum Qualification & Experience: PG in Packaging Technology – ideally from IIP (Indian Institute of Packaging)

Packaging Technology graduate / post graduate with 5 – 10 yrs of experience in nutritional packaging development in packaging formats such as Laminates/ Flexibles, Rigid (Jars/ Tins). Ideally should have hands on experience in managing / handling various types of packaging machines along with proficiency level experience in Nitrogen filled packaging formats and packaging machines. Should have led designing and commercialization of flexible laminate based packaging solutions with credible stability outcomes.

Other requirements –Should have working level experience in VMHS formats such as Soft gels, Capsules, tablets etc.

Coordinate and oversee activities related to PM design, pilot tool development and production PM development. Develop timelines, prioritize samples, conduct product characterization and reverse engineering. Define component specifications, standard test procedures, and conduct sample analysis, with a focus on optimizing packaging material costs.

Roles & Responsibilities

• You will be working with cross functional team for packaging solution of new product development.
• You will be responsible to coordinate activities for relevant PM Design, Pilot tool development (as applicable on the Packaging format), Production PM development.
• You will be responsible for Artwork design closure along with cross functional team inputs and alignment.
• You will be responsible to develop timelines & organize samples and sets priorities.
• You will be responsible to do product characterization & reverse engineering., including stability assessment and accountability for PM.
• You will be responsible to develop the component specifications and Standard Test Procedures.
• You will be responsible for Sample Analysis as per component drawings.
• You will be responsible for cost optimization of packaging materials.
• You will be required to travel along with the development team during plant trials to ensure detailed packaging trials and provide necessary inputs and own the process till successful commercialisation.

• Plan packaging development activities in line with RLD’s and marketing requirements which enables to provide competitive advantage for Organization.
• Detailed / working expertise on the entire packaging development process – specific to format selected viz Laminate pouches, Jars, Blister packs, Tetrapack/ aspetic etc,
• Selection of packaging material for product stability, quality, safety, inventory, compliance to regulatory and statutory requirements at optimum cost.
• Desing & development of change parts, conducting the feasibility and stability trials.
• Conducting the Packing validations and ensuring smooth filing batches.
• Prepare technical documents Trade Dress, Batch Packing protocols, MPC, BOM, Specifications & PDR.
