Key responsibilities of a Linux admin include:
Installation and configuration: Setting up and maintaining Linux servers and other systems to meet business requirements.
System monitoring: Continuously monitoring system performance and availability to prevent crashes, slowdowns, and downtime.
Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues as they arise.
Security management: Implementing and maintaining security measures, managing user access and permissions, and applying patches and updates to protect systems from threats.
Backup and recovery: Performing regular system and data backups and developing disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
Automation and scripting: Writing and maintaining scripts (using Bash, Python, etc.) to automate routine administrative tasks and improve efficiency.
Database management: Managing and maintaining databases like MySQL or MariaDB that often run on Linux servers and are crucial for applications storing customer and operational data.
Networking: Configuring and managing network services such as DNS and DHCP.
Collaboration: Working with other IT teams, developers, and engineers to enhance infrastructure and resolve technical problems.
Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical documentation of system configurations, procedures, and processes
