Optical Designer

Role Overview: You will be responsible for handling complete projects for interior illumination, including AC control panel and displays, to meet customer and specification requirements. You will develop design solutions using illumination software, select LEDs based on illumination intensity and coordinate requirements, provide engineering inputs in CAD using Catia 3D software, and ensure the design's functionality, robustness, and manufacturability through verification and tracking. Key Responsibilities: - Develop design solutions using illumination software (SPEOS) - Select LEDs based on illumination intensity and X, Y coordinate requirements - Provide engineering inputs in CAD using Catia 3D software - Verify and track design regarding function, robustness, and manufacturability - Manage space and integration aspects related to the product - Communicate design changes related to the basic concept and value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) - Create and maintain the D-FMEA - Prepare light measurement reports after measurements - Optimize cost-effective light sources, diffusers, foils, and materials based on functional requirements - Prepare content for mechanical proportion of 3D/2D design reviews - Support development activities and conduct cross-functional team (CFT) review meetings - Analyze test results and function of prototypes, identify root causes of deviations, and define necessary design changes - Plan and ensure project schedule at L2 level and control project costs within budget - Communicate and interact with customers (OEM/Teir1) and suppliers for design for manufacturability (DFM) and specification requirements Qualifications Required: - Experience in handling all illumination activities throughout the product development lifecycle, following Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) processes - Basic knowledge of lighting and automotive lighting - Proficiency in measuring control panels using devices like Konica Minolta or Techno Team cameras - Command of SPEOS/illumination simulation software and CAD programs (e.g., CATIA) in 3D & 2D - Competence in LEDs, plastic technology, display technology, and material selection - Experience in automobile rotary knob and push button illumination - Understanding of customer illumination requirements, homogeneity, and tolerance requirements - Knowledge of light technology, light guide design, IMD foil technology, painting, laser etching, pad printing, and spraying processes - Understanding of design material characteristics regarding production tolerances, surface characteristics, strength, and durability - Familiarity with requirement management and analysis, FMEA, Ansys, product and component testing, and quality assurance - Knowledge of light technology, electronics hardware, circuit connectors, PCB technology (especially vehicle climate control), and quality standards - Ability to provide resistor values and inputs to hardware - Additional advantage if competent in soldering LEDs and resistors - Basic knowledge of product data management (PDM) and DOORS,
