Consultant Ophthalmologist (MS/DNB)
Industry: Healthcare — Clinical Ophthalmology & Eye Care Services (Hospital / Outpatient Clinic). We deliver community-focused, full‑spectrum eye care including cataract surgery, medical retina, glaucoma and refractive services for patients across Andhra Pradesh. On-site consultant role based in Telaprolu, Andhra Pradesh, India.
About The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist (MS/DNB) to join an on-site clinical team in Telaprolu. You will manage outpatient clinics, perform surgical procedures, and lead high-quality patient care initiatives—working within a multidisciplinary hospital environment to improve visual outcomes for patients across age groups.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient ophthalmology care: history-taking, full eye examinations, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment plans.
- Perform ophthalmic surgeries with emphasis on phacoemulsification/cataract surgery and minor ocular procedures; ensure safe peri‑operative management.
- Manage medical retina, glaucoma, corneal and anterior segment conditions; refer complex cases to tertiary centres when necessary.
- Document clinical encounters accurately in EMR, maintain surgical logs, and follow infection‑control and patient‑safety protocols.
- Counsel patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, and post‑operative care to drive adherence and outcomes.
- Collaborate with nursing, optometry, and allied teams to optimise clinic workflows, outreach camps, and community screening programs.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MS (Ophthalmology) or DNB (Ophthalmology) from a recognised institute.
- Proven hands‑on experience in phacoemulsification / cataract surgery and outpatient management (minimum 1–3 years preferred).
- Strong clinical skills in slit‑lamp exam, indirect ophthalmoscopy and diagnostic decision‑making.
- Good surgical logbook, adherence to sterilisation and patient‑safety protocols.
- Excellent verbal communication in English and regional language(s) for patient counselling.
Preferred
- Experience managing retina (intravitreal injections), glaucoma procedures, or corneal service exposure.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, basic diagnostic imaging (B‑scan, OCT) and minor office procedures.
