Role Summary :

The Production & Operations Head will own the end to end operations for fresh produce and food

processing, spanning production planning, packing/processing. The role is accountable for

OTIF delivery, yield & cost optimization, food safety compliance, and performance

management. This leader will institutionalize automation, and digital monitoring to drive

throughput, shelf-life, and customer service while safeguarding worker safety and brand integrity.

Key Responsibilities

1) Strategy Governance

• Build the Operations & Production strategy aligned to business goals (capacity, footprint,

CAPEX).

• Translate strategy into annual/quarterly production plans, Sales Operations Planning,

and resource allocation.

• Set, monitor, and review KPIs through daily/weekly governance (tier meetings, Gemba

walks, dashboards).

2) End-to-End Production Management

• Own production planning & scheduling (Master Production Schedule/Material

Requirement Planning), batch planning, line balancing, and changeover optimization.

• Drive yield, throughput, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness improvement across

packing, processing lines, and RTE/nonRTE cells.

• Ensure standard work: SOPs, Workers Information System, tool control, sanitation cycles,

allergen & crosscontact controls where applicable.

3) Fresh Produce Operations

• Define commoditywise quality, sensory, and shelflife standards; manage shrink/decay

and defects.

4) Food Safety, Quality & Compliance (with QA)

• Partner with QA to uphold HACCP, ISO/FSSC 22000, BRCGS, GMP, GAP; ensure audit readiness and closure of NCs.

• Ensure compliance with FSSAI regulations, microbiological standards, and pesticide residue limits (for fresh produce) with the help of QA.

• Implement traceability from lot to customer and conduct mock recalls within target timelines with the help of QA.

5) Coordinate Sales & Operations planning with Sales, Procurement, QA, and Finance to

align demand, capacity, and materials.

6) Cost, Efficiency , Continuous Improvement

• Reduce COPQ (cost of poor quality), wastage, rework, and labor/energy costs; drive ROI for CAPEX.

• Lead root cause analysis (5Why, Fishbone, FMEA) and implement robust CAPA.

7) Technology, Automation & Digital

• Deploy ERP integrations for realtime visibility (production, inventory, traceability).

• Introduce IoT sensors for temperature/humidity, predictive maintenance, and line performance analytics.

• Champion data driven decisions dashboards.

8) People Leadership ; Safety

• Build a high performing team; conduct competency mapping, training, and succession planning.

• Enforce Environment Health & Safety standards: PPE, incident investigation, and safety

culture.

• Drive engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset.

Qualifications Experience :

• Bachelor/Masters in Food Technology, Food Science, Agriculture, or Operations

Management.

• 15+ years in production & operations within fresh produce, food processing.

• Proven expertise in Sales & Operations Planning, capacity planning, Overall Effective

Equipment.

• Exposure to ERP/Manufacturing Execution System automation, and digital performance monitoring.
