Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Electrical /Mechanical/Instrumentation

Role & responsibilities

Job Location: [Anywhere in India]

Industry: Infrastructure Projects (Water Supply and Irrigation Projects, STPs, Hydro Power)

Education Qualification: Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation Engineering

Experience Range: 3 - 8 years for all positions

Key Responsibilities for Electrical Engineer:

1. Electrical System Operations:

Monitor and manage the operation of electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, motors, generators, and distribution panels.

Work with control and automation systems like SCADA, PLC, and CMMS.

2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for electrical equipment.

Conduct inspections, testing, and fault diagnosis of electrical systems.

Ensure timely corrective maintenance to minimize operational disruptions.

Maintain records of maintenance activities, system failures, and repair work.

3. Troubleshooting & Fault Analysis:

Identify root causes of electrical failures and implement corrective actions.

Perform power quality analysis and load balancing.

Optimize energy consumption and electrical system efficiency.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of electrical power systems, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, motors, generators, SCADA, and PLC.

Key Responsibilities for Mechanical Engineers

1. Mechanical Operations Management:

Oversee the operation of mechanical systems such as pumps, compressors, turbines, conveyors, HVAC, and piping networks.

Monitor equipment performance and take corrective actions to ensure efficiency.

Work with control systems like SCADA, PLC, and CMMS for real-time monitoring.

2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance:

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules.

Conduct routine inspections and diagnose mechanical issues.

Perform corrective maintenance and ensure minimal downtime.

Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities.

3. Troubleshooting & Failure Analysis:

Identify root causes of mechanical failures using techniques like RCA (Root Cause Analysis).

Coordinate with teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Optimize equipment performance by analysing trends and historical data.

Technical Skills: Knowledge of pumps, compressors, turbines, conveyors, HVAC, piping, welding, SCADA, and CMMS.

Certifications (Preferred): PMP, Six Sigma, OSHA, ISO 9001, or related industry certifications.

Key Responsibilities for Instrumentation Engineer

1. Instrumentation Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

Inspect, calibrate, repair, and maintain instrumentation systems such as sensors, transmitters, controllers, and analyzers.

Diagnose faults and failures in control systems and take corrective actions.

Ensure minimal downtime of critical equipment.

2. Operations Support:

Monitor instrument performance and support plant operations to maintain efficiency.

Provide technical support for daily operations and process optimization.

Assist in implementing automation solutions for process improvement.

3. Calibration & Compliance:

Perform periodic calibration of instruments to ensure accuracy.

Maintain records of calibration and maintenance activities.

Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

4. Installation & Commissioning:

Support the installation, testing, and commissioning of new instrumentation and control systems.

Work with vendors and contractors during project execution.

Technical Skills:

Expertise in sensors, PLCs, SCADA, DCS, and other control systems.

Knowledge of industrial standards (ISA, IEC, ANSI).
