About the Role BL Harbert International is seeking a motivated Office Engineer specializing in Civil, Structural, and Architectural trades to join our team on the prestigious New U.S. Embassy Compound project in New Delhi. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a landmark development while working with an experienced international construction team.

• Reading contract drawings and specifications; will be expected to be the project expert in the requirements of those trades.
• Quantity take-offs of materials for those trades—not just a BOQ estimate—must be very detailed to include everything needed for installation. Example: non-structural metal framing requires studs of multiple sizes, top and bottom track, sheet metal screws, and concrete anchors.
• Preparation of submittals for submission to the client to obtain approval of materials. Some will be obtained from vendors, some from the in-house team of draftsmen, and some will need to be created by the office engineer to meet project requirements. The process will include coordination with vendors and in-house draftsmen to ensure they understand the project requirements and incorporate them into submittals.
• Serve as the first point of contact for vendors when problems are discovered during the submittal creation and manufacturing process. Will work with vendors and possibly the client to solve issues while keeping the budget and schedule in line.
• Track material status through the process from initial order, submittal creation, submittal approval, release for manufacturing, manufacturing duration, shipment, and arrival at site.
• Work with in-house draftsmen to create field installation drawings. Ensure that all requirements of the contract drawings, specifications, and material instructions are reflected in the installation drawings.
• Serve as the first point of contact for the field/installation team when problems are encountered in the office engineer’s trades. Will work with the field team and manufacturers as needed to incorporate solutions with minimal effect on the project budget or schedule.
• Where contract documents contradict themselves or cannot be built, will be responsible for drafting RFIs for submission to the owner/design team suggesting solutions. When the owner/designers provide a response with a solution, it will be the responsibility of the office engineer to ensure the installation drawings are updated to reflect the new contract requirements.

The most important aspect is that BL Harbert is a contractor, not a construction management firm. We build everything ourselves. The office engineers will not have anyone to delegate to; they will be responsible for the work. There are no subcontractors to manage. There are no BOQs.

• Ability to read design drawings and create detailed BIM models and AutoCAD drawings.
• Work hours: Monday–Saturday
• Must attend an in-person interview in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
