1. Job Summary
Nursing Superintendent
The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, demonstrate exceptional leadership capabilities, and be passionate about creating a world-class nursing service that delivers exceptional patient care and supports the hospital's mission of clinical excellence.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Nursing Leadership & Planning:
- Develop and execute the nursing service strategy aligned with the hospital's mission, vision, and quality goals.
- Design the nursing organisational structure and create a scalable staffing plan for phased hiring.
- Establish nursing standards, protocols, and procedures in compliance with NABH and other regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage the annual nursing budget, including staffing, equipment, and training expenses
B. Clinical Excellence & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure the highest standards of nursing care and patient safety across all departments.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing care quality through regular audits and performance assessments.
- Implement evidence-based nursing practices and clinical protocols.
- Lead infection control initiatives and maintain strict compliance with hygiene protocols
C. Staff Management & Development:
- Lead end-to-end recruitment for all nursing positions, from staff nurses to ward in-charges
- Develop and implement comprehensive orientation and training programs for nursing staff.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals and create individual development plans.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth among nursing staff
D. Operations & Resource Management:
- Prepare and manage nursing schedules to ensure adequate staffing across all shifts and departments.
- Oversee the maintenance and utilisation of nursing equipment and supplies.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless patient care delivery.
- Manage nursing documentation and maintain accurate records
E. Patient Care & Satisfaction:
- Monitor patient satisfaction levels and implement improvements in nursing care delivery.
- Address patient and family concerns related to nursing services promptly and effectively.
- Promote a compassionate and empathetic care environment.
- Ensure adherence to patient rights and confidentiality standards.
3. Qualifications and Experience
Educational Qualification:
B.Sc. Nursing (M.Sc. Nursing preferred)Mandatory Registration:
Valid registration with the Indian Nursing Council / State Nursing CouncilExperience:
15 - 20 years
of progressive experience in nursing, with a minimum of 8-10 years in nursing leadership/administration within a hospital setting
Non-Negotiable Experience:
- Proven experience in setting up nursing services in a new hospital or major expansion
- Comprehensive knowledge of NABH standards and accreditation processes
- Extensive experience in nursing recruitment, training, and performance management
- Strong clinical expertise across multiple specialities and emergency care
