Nld Fiber Engineer

Job Summary:

National Long-Distance (NLD)

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute

  NLD fibre network rollout as per design and project timelines.
• Conduct

  route surveys

  , verify feasibility, and finalize optimal fibre paths for long-haul connectivity.
• Coordinate with

  vendors and contractors

  for

  fiber laying

  ,

  duct installation

  , and

  jointing/splicing

  activities.
• Ensure adherence to

  OSP (Outside Plant)

  design standards,

  ROW

  (Right of Way) regulations, and

  safety protocols

  .
• Perform

  fiber testing

  (OTDR, power meter, light source tests) and maintain accurate

  test reports

  .
• Troubleshoot and rectify

  fiber faults

  , coordinate with

  NOC

  for alarm analysis and restoration.
• Prepare and maintain

  as-built documentation

  ,

  route maps

  , and

  BoQ

  for deployed links.
• Support

  network integration

  with DWDM, SDH, IP/MPLS equipment for long-haul connectivity.
• Monitor and maintain

  SLAs

  for uptime, restoration, and performance.
• Ensure

  redundancy planning

  and

  protection paths

  for mission-critical links.
• Liaise with

  local authorities

  for ROW permissions and resolve field-level issues.
• Maintain asset and route records in

  GIS/AutoCAD

  or internal NMS tools.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree

  in Electronics & Communication / Electrical / Telecommunication Engineering.

• 2–6 years

  of experience in

  NLD / OSP / Fibre Network operations

  .
• Strong understanding of

  fiber optics

  ,

  splicing

  ,

  OTDR testing

  , and

  route maintenance

  .
• Hands-on experience with tools like

  OTDR

  ,

  Power Meter

  ,

  Light Source

  ,

  GPS

  ,

  AutoCAD

  , and

  GIS software

  .
• Knowledge of

  DWDM

  ,

  SDH

  ,

  Ethernet

  , and

  transmission systems

  .
• Ability to manage

  field teams

  vendors

  , and

  ROW coordination

  .
• Good documentation, analytical, and reporting skills.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in

  long-haul backbone

  or

  inter-city fibre network projects

  .
• Certification in

  Fiber Optic Technology

  ,

  AutoCAD

  , or

  Project Management

  .
• Familiarity with

  NOC operations

  and

  network monitoring tools

  .
• Exposure to

  FTTx / 5G backhaul

  or

  data center interconnect

  projects.
