Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network Maintenance:

Monitor network performance and availability.

Perform routine maintenance and updates for network hardware and software.

Ensure optimal network configurations and performance tuning.

2. Troubleshooting:

Identify, diagnose, and resolve network-related issues (e.g., connectivity, latency).

Support end-users with network access and connectivity problems.

3. Installation and Configuration:

Assist with the installation and setup of routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.

Configure network devices to meet business and security requirements.

4. Security and Compliance:

Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls and VPNs.

Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.

5. Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of network configurations, topologies, and troubleshooting procedures.

Update technical documentation and user guides.

6. Collaboration:

Work with vendors and service providers for hardware/software procurement and support.

Coordinate with IT teams to resolve cross-functional technical issues.

7. Upgrades and Improvements:

Recommend and implement upgrades to hardware, software, and network systems.

Research and stay updated on new networking technologies and trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Associate degree with relevant certifications is acceptable.
  • Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory):
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, etc.).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
  • Experience with hardware (routers, switches, access points).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience:

  • 5+ years in a similar role (entry-level roles may require internships or equivalent experience).

Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with occasional on-call responsibilities.
  • May require lifting and handling network equipment.
  • Potential for remote troubleshooting and support.
