Job Summary

MySQL Database Administrator (DBA)


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain

    MySQL database servers

    in production and non-production environments.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries for maximum efficiency.
  • Implement robust

    backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies

    .
  • Manage

    database security, access controls, and user permissions

    .
  • Perform regular database health checks, patching, and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to ensure database reliability and scalability.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and operational procedures.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years

    of hands-on experience as a

    MySQL DBA

    .
  • Strong knowledge of

    MySQL architecture, replication, clustering, and performance tuning

    .
  • Experience with

    backup and recovery tools

    like Percona XtraBackup or similar.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing

    complex SQL queries

    .
  • Familiarity with

    Linux environments

    and shell scripting for database management.
  • Understanding of

    high availability

    and

    disaster recovery

    strategies.
  • Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g.,

    Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or MySQL Enterprise Monitor

    ).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.


Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Knowledge of

    cloud platforms

    (AWS RDS, Azure Database, or GCP SQL).
  • Experience in automating database tasks using tools like

    Ansible

    or

    Terraform

    .
  • Exposure to

    NoSQL databases

    (e.g., MongoDB) is a plus.
