Key Responsibilities1. Transcribing Medical DictationsListen to audio recordings of physicians or healthcare providers. Accurately type the spoken words into written reports (e.g., discharge summaries, patient histories, operative notes). Use proper medical terminology, abbreviations, and formats. 2. Editing and ProofreadingReview and correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors. Ensure consistency and accuracy of medical information. Edit drafts prepared by speech recognition software (in modern transcription). 3. Ensuring ConfidentialityMaintain strict confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA compliance in the U.S. or similar privacy laws elsewhere). Securely store and transmit reports. 4. Formatting and Submitting ReportsFormat documents according to hospital or clinic standards. Submit completed reports to physicians for review and signature. 5. Research and VerificationVerify unfamiliar medical terms, drug names, or procedures using reliable medical references. Ensure correct spelling and context of all terminology. 6. CommunicationClarify unclear dictations with physicians or supervisors when necessary. Collaborate with healthcare team members to maintain record accuracy. 7. Quality AssuranceFollow quality control procedures.
