Job Description

Role Overview

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and validate mechanical hardware integrating with complex electronics across low-volume to mass production
  • Own subsystem or component-level design from concept production
  • Convert ambiguous client requirements into practical, functional mechanical solutions
  • Balance critical design parameters such as reliability, functionality, human factors, manufacturability, sustainability, and aesthetics
  • Work with cross-disciplinary teams to research, brainstorm, prototype, test, analyze, document, and present engineering work
  • Contribute to technical strategy, client communication, and support the business development team
  • Implement design improvements focused on cost, reliability, performance, and compliance
  • Maintain rigorous documentation of design iterations, validation, and test results
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners, suppliers, and CM/OEM vendors during development
  • Develop functional tests and support test fixture/electrical test platform development
  • Travel up to 15% for supplier visits, manufacturing support, and client needs

Required Skill Set

  • B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience developing complex integrated products.
  • Expertise in DFM, DFA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, 2D/3D CAD (Onshape preferred).
  • Strong understanding of mass manufacturing processes (injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal, MIM, ultrasonic welding, overmolding, etc.).
  • Proficiency in rapid prototyping (FDM, SLA, PolyJet, DLP, MJF).
  • Hands-on familiarity with plastics, metals, adhesives, glass and their mechanical properties.
  • Experience across the full product lifecycle, including NPI and production release.
  • Vendor management exposure with overseas suppliers/CMs/JDM/OEM partners.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience building high-reliability consumer electronics with biomedical sensors (ECG, PPG, SpO2, BIA, GSR, etc)
  • Expertise in silicone molding, micro-molding, thin-wall molding
  • FEA/Simulation/DOE experience
  • Experience designing for IP68, human factors, and cosmetic-sensitive products
  • Familiarity with Asia-based supply chains and high-volume manufacturing
