Job Description

Role Overview: As a Department Manager at PM Group, you will be leading the Mechanical team in the Bangalore office to support the growth in the Pharma, Food, and Med Tech sectors in Ireland. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, your responsibilities will include managing and developing the Mechanical department, requisitioning process equipment, developing piping specifications, conducting piping stress analysis, and managing Mechanical Contract scope development. Key Responsibilities: - Communicate effectively between Senior Management and Engineers - Develop and expand the current team to meet project commitments and scale up for growing Mechanical Package ownership opportunities - Act as a Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer (Package owner) for various packages on International Projects - Understand the project office Mechanical Package owner requirements - Estimate hours, plan work streams, and execute projects to meet Project requirements - Recruit Senior Engineers to enhance the Mechanical Department according to Project needs - On-board new hires with Technical Induction and Discipline Training - Develop team skills to meet Project and MOE Global Projects Growth needs - Assist in resource planning and allocation - Ensure Department Design Services are compliant with PM Group's Quality Management Systems (QMS) - Coordinate with HR for employee development, including appraisals - Preferably have experience in EPC companies in the Pharmaceutical/Biopharmaceutical sector - Possess strong and effective communication skills for leading technical reviews with Clients and Suppliers Qualifications: - Hold a Degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 15 years of experience in EPC project delivery, including at least 3-4 years as a Mechanical Department Manager - Industry experience in Pharma, Biopharma, Chemicals, or Oil & Gas, with a minimum of 3-4 years specifically in the Pharmaceutical or Biopharmaceutical sector - Experience with Mechanical Package Ownership on International Projects - Demonstrated capability and knowledge of workflows throughout the project lifecycle - Excellent organisational, collaborative, and people skills - Proven track record in providing leadership and mentoring - Strong commercial focus - Self-starter and decision-maker - Good time management skills to balance dual roles - Proficient in client-facing skills, commercial acumen, and simplifying engineering information at all levels Additional Details: PM Group is an employee-owned company with a commitment to inclusivity, corporate responsibility, and sustainability as the core of their new 2025 business strategy.
