Maths Teacher – Job Description

A maths teacher is responsible for teaching mathematical concepts to students in a clear, engaging, and age-appropriate way. They help students develop problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and confidence in mathematics.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver structured maths lessons in line with the curriculum
Teach topics such as arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics
Assess, record, and report on students’ progress through tests, assignments, and classwork
Provide extra support or challenge to meet different learning needs
Maintain a positive, safe, and disciplined classroom environment
Use a variety of teaching methods and resources, including technology
Encourage students to think critically and apply maths to real-life situations
Communicate with parents and colleagues about student progress

Skills and Qualities:

Strong knowledge of mathematics
Clear communication and explanation skills
Patience, organisation, and enthusiasm for teaching
Ability to motivate and support students
