Job Description

Role Overview: As a Marine Superintendent at V., your overall purpose will be to be the marine resource to the Fleet Cell, contributing towards operating the vessels to the highest safety standards and ensuring flawless service delivery to customers. You will support the Fleet Cell throughout all fleet operations. Key Responsibilities: - Ensure constant safe operation and environmental protection in collaboration with the Fleet Manager. - Deliver marine management services to customers to maximize operational performance of their vessels. - Maintain navigational standards by reviewing practices and procedures for assigned ships. - Monitor shipboard drug and alcohol testing. - Participate in safety critical work reviews and ensure safe commercial operations of assigned vessels. - Plan and oversee internal and external audits for managed vessels. - Select Senior Officers for assigned vessels and conduct performance appraisals. - Assist the DPA and act as deputy DPA when required. - Build strong safety culture onboard by collaborating with senior ship staff. - Formulate action plans to improve office and customer KPIs. - Collect HSEQ statistical data for management reviews. - Monitor Health, Environmental & Quality aspects of assigned vessels. - Oversee cargo activities, compliance with safety procedures, and liaise with P&I for operations. - Prepare visitation plans for safety promotion onboard. - Report safety, environmental, and operational issues promptly to higher management. - Advocate ShipSure utilization and provide feedback for continuous improvement. - Monitor risk for assigned vessels and participate in risk assessments. - Maintain records of incidents and ensure investigations and corrective actions are carried out. - Act as Company Security Officer and plan ISPS audits for designated fleet/vessels. - Prepare vessels for inspections by various bodies and drive positive outcomes in third party inspections. - Attend contingency drills and exercises for effective emergency response. Qualification Required: - Minimum qualification of Class 2 (1st Mate) certificate of competency with seagoing experience. - Alternatively, other formal education with practical senior level experience in ship management operations. - Desirable qualification includes Masters Certificate of Competency (Class 1) with command experience. - Good communication, organizational, planning, analytical, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
