Overview

Marine Superintendent (Master Mariner)

What Will You Do

• Ensure vessels operate

  safely, efficiently, and in full compliance

  with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, ISPS, and company standards.
• Oversee

  chemical cargo operations

  , including loading, discharging, tank cleaning, and complex

  parceling

  involving multiple grades, segregation, cargo heating, and stowage compatibility.
• Guide Masters and Chief Officers on

  cargo stowage planning

  , parcel sequencing, and chemical compatibility.
• Conduct vessel

  inspections, navigational audits, safety drills

  , and operational readiness checks.
• Monitor ship performance,

  fuel consumption, cargo efficiency

  , and voyage execution.
• Oversee

  maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking

  , ensuring minimal downtime and effective cost control.
• Manage and prepare vessels for

  SIRE/VIQ and CDI inspections

  , ensuring audit readiness at all times.
• Investigate

  incidents, near-misses, and NCRs

  ; develop corrective and preventive actions.
• Liaise with

  charterers, terminals, agents, classification societies

  , and port authorities to support flawless port operations.
• Ensure statutory, class, and safety certificates remain

  valid and updated

  .
• Review and strengthen the

  Safety Management System (ISM Code compliance)

  .
• Lead

  crew familiarization, training, and emergency preparedness drills

  tailored to chemical tanker operations.
• Prepare operational reports and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support the

  commercial team

  by ensuring vessels remain fully compliant and ready for charter commitments.

The Must-Haves

• Valid

  Master Mariner Certificate of Competency

  .
• Prior sailing experience as

  Master on Chemical Tankers

  (experience with parcels/multi-grade cargo handling is highly desirable).
• Strong knowledge of maritime regulations, tanker operations, cargo systems, and safety frameworks.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide shipboard teams effectively.
