The ideal candidate for this position should possess a Master Mariner Certificate of Competency (STCW II/2) along with a minimum of 2 years" command experience on oil/chemical tankers. It is essential to have valid STCW tanker endorsements (Advanced Oil and Chemical), and having a training or teaching certification would be preferred. As a part of your key responsibilities, you will be required to deliver value-added tanker related training dealing with all company systems, including SIRE 2.0, BCAP, Company-based SQEMS, Ship Safety Officer, and other relevant areas within the management level. You will also be responsible for developing training materials and assessment methods, evaluating trainee performance, and maintaining training records. It is crucial to stay updated with industry regulations and best practices and assist in interviewing seafarers to determine their suitability for induction and promotion at all levels. In terms of technical knowledge requirements, you should have a good understanding of cargo systems and equipment on modern tankers, international regulations such as MARPOL, ISGOTT, IBC/BCH Codes, risk assessment, safety management systems, emergency procedures, contingency planning, and environmental protection measures. Preferred experience for this role includes previous shore experience, training/mentoring experience (including simulator-based training), familiarity with quality management systems, and knowledge of maritime training standards and accreditation.
