Manufacturing Design Engineer - Equipment Design (Robotics)

As an Equipment Design MDE at Apple, you will play a crucial role in driving automation activities for key manufacturing processes in the enclosure and module spaces. Your responsibilities will include: - Crafting, developing, and manufacturing prototype and mass production capable equipment to develop and validate new process architectures - Working with process teams and outside equipment manufacturers to build fully automated novel equipment from concept/architecture stage through mass production - Developing new equipment architectures to enable novel process solutions across various Apple products - Driving EQ innovations from concept to mass production through internal EQ design & testing and engagement with external EQ suppliers - Performing EQ DFMEA standard methodologies and leading DFM reviews with vendors to develop reliable, high-performance, and cost-effective manufacturing process equipment - Conducting detailed data collection and EQ capability analysis for EQ architecture down-selection - Leading root cause & failure analysis and improvement path identification for new EQ technologies - Providing manufacturing leadership to ensure new processes are scalable for mass production - Collaborating with Product Design, Display Engineering, Display Operations, and international vendors - Driving EQ, component, or integration vendors on technology development, failure resolution, and cost-effective scale-up for mass production - Monitoring industrial equipment and process manufacturing technology trends, evaluating new EQ suppliers Additionally, you will be required to have: - 5+ years of professional experience in automation and robotics applications for mass production - Expertise with industrial robots and their programming languages - Extensive experience using CAD for mechanical design and GD&T practices - Proficiency with PLCs and various programming languages - Experience working with international supply chains and contract manufacturers Preferred qualifications include key experience in areas such as robot selection & programming, feeding systems, part loading/unloading, robot simulations, safety integration, HMI programming, and consumable management.
