Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. Procurement Management

    • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of materials, equipment, and services.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
    • Evaluate supplier performance and maintain robust supplier relationships.
    • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, ethical standards, and legal requirements.
  2. Inventory and Stores Management

    • Oversee the management of inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
    • Implement effective inventory control practices and systems to ensure accuracy.
    • Monitor the movement and storage of goods within the organization.
    • Regularly review and optimize the layout and organization of storage facilities.
  3. Cost Management and Budgeting

    • Prepare and manage departmental budgets and expenditure forecasts.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities in procurement and inventory management.
    • Conduct regular cost analysis and present findings to senior management.
  4. Team Leadership and Development

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the purchase and stores team to enhance their skills and performance.
    • Set clear goals and performance metrics for team members.
    • Promote a collaborative and professional work environment.
  5. Coordination and Stakeholder Management

    • Collaborate with internal departments such as production, finance, and quality control to align procurement and inventory goals.
    • Resolve any issues related to delayed shipments, damaged goods, or supply shortages.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for vendor-related inquiries.
  6. Process Improvement and Technology Integration

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement and inventory management processes.
    • Leverage technology and ERP systems to enhance efficiency and transparency.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in supply chain management.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education

    : Bachelors Degree in Engineering (B.E.) is mandatory. A Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage.
  • Experience

    : Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in procurement, supply chain, and inventory management, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role.
  • Technical Skills

    :
    • Strong knowledge of procurement and inventory management software (ERP systems preferred).
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Soft Skills

    :
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
