Muvattupuzha

Qualification: Degree in Food Technology or related field (Masters preferred)

Min 8 10+ years in Product Development (Bakery & Confectionery)

18 LPA (Negotiable)

Job Overview:

The Manager R&D drives the product development process from idea to

implementation to ensure products meet customers needs. Other job duties can

include determining cost efficient product formulations and ensuring that new

products are following food regulations. The role will also involve collaborating with

executive management and sales heads to better understand the organization's

target market and overall business strategy by ensuring the technical and

commercial viability of new products.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Responsible for guiding the R&D team in the development of new

products by understanding core customer needs(bakery and

bakery related Products)

  • Conducts screening of various innovation sources, conducts workshops

for brainstorming, uses innovation tools and derives ideas from all these

activities.

  • All existing and new Products need to monitor and modify as per

FSSAI Standards norms

  • Project Brief generation for all NPD and Frame timeline chart on

start to end Product development cycle

  • Need to Monitor and Modify the New and existing Product base

based on targeted cost to get desired GP and NP percentage

  • Need to handle Crisis management on RM unavailability and need

to come up with alternate base with Product standardization

  • Process optimization and Knowledge transfer from R&D to pilot

scale to Product scale and fix the Optimum process for all

products based on product categories

  • Generates ideas for the organization, collects ideas from a wide variety of

sources, takes care of the collection, evaluation and selection of these

ideas by assessing their technical and commercial feasibility.

  • Co-ordinate with Sales and marketing team to understand the

market potential and get the Project brief for new product development

  • Approves alternate raw material samples by coordinating with

purchase department to reduce cost addition.

  • Scrutinizes existing and new product formulations to obtain the best

results at lowest possible costs.

  • Coordinates with Purchase team to reduce product cost by working out

alternate formulations with cost effective raw materials without

affecting product quality.

  • Evaluates competitor samples to understand current and future

market requirements.

  • Supports cross functional team and manages trial analysis, sensory evaluation

and reformulation of current products. Agent for continuous improvement,

drives results and leads in problem solving/root cause investigations of

production problems with support from QA/QC team.

  • Supports operations head in ensuring smooth functioning of production

activities without compromising product quality.

  • Manages, verifies and controls the data of product related details in

Enterprise resource planning system (ERP).

  • Provides directions to Product Innovation team in carrying out application

trials.

  • Monitors documentation activities related to new projects and day to

day requirements.

  • Accompanies sales heads/associates in regular market visits for

product demonstrations, complaint handling etc. whenever

required.

  • Provides technical support to customers and sales team whenever required.
  • Conduct Induction and product training for all New joiners on Product

Orientation

Qualifications

  • Degree in Food technology or food related course and Master degree is

added advantage

  • Demonstrated 8 to 10 + years of experience in a product

development role in bakery & confectionery segment

  • Should have Good knowledge in Enzyme, Emulsifiers,

Hydrocolloids used in bakery products .

  • Should possess effective written and verbal communication skills in

English , (Hindi and Malayalam is added advantage)

  • Should possess excellent interpersonal, observational, logical

reasoning, problem-solving and risk management skills.

  • Advanced scientific knowledge in food technology and allied subjects.
  • Should be a creative, optimistic and self-motivated leader who is

objective and takes decisions based on scientific facts.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision, distance

vision, color vision, color differentiation and depth perception.

  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures & equipment: pH-meter, Refractive

Index, viscosity, Colorimeters, and Sensory testing.

  • Moderate to advanced computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets,

and presentations), knowledge of ERP/ SAP is necessary.

  • Advanced knowledge of food regulations with specific emphasis on

nutritional labeling, natural food ingredients, Hazard Analysis and

Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices

(GMPs).

  • Must be willing to travel in and out of the country as part of market

visits, conferences, product validations e.t.c.
