Job Title: Manager Payroll Manager

Location: [Chennai]

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to manage payroll operations for our clients. The role involves overseeing client payroll processing, ensuring statutory compliance, providing expert consultancy, and acting as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries. The candidate will manage client relationships, coordinate with internal teams and vendors, and deliver high-quality payroll services.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Payroll Management:

Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple client organizations across diverse industries.

Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with client-specific payroll policies and statutory requirements.

Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and payroll vendors to gather inputs and resolve issues.

Client Relationship & Consultancy:

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on all payroll matters.

Provide expert advice on payroll compliance, statutory updates, and best practices.

Conduct regular client reviews, audits, and reporting to ensure service quality and client satisfaction.

Compliance & Risk Management:

Ensure all payroll activities comply with applicable labor laws, tax regulations, and client contractual obligations.

Oversee statutory filings, returns, and payments related to client payrolls.

Manage escalations, audits, and remedial actions in consultation with clients and internal teams.

Team Coordination:

Lead and mentor payroll analysts and consultants working on client accounts.

Collaborate with internal departments such as HR, Finance, Legal, and IT to ensure seamless payroll delivery.

Process Improvement & Reporting:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize payroll processes and systems.

Prepare and present payroll MIS, exception reports, and dashboards for clients and management.

Stay updated on payroll technologies and recommend automation where applicable.

Key Skills & Competencies:

Extensive knowledge of Indian payroll laws, tax compliance, and statutory requirements.

Strong client management and consultancy skills.

Experience managing payroll operations across multiple client accounts.

Proficiency with payroll software platforms like GreytHR, DarwinBox, Keka, SAP, ADP, or similar.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.

Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, HR, Finance, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.

7+ years of experience in payroll processing, client management, or payroll consulting.

Experience working with payroll outsourcing or consultancy firms is highly desirable.
