Job Title: Manager MRSS (Electrical)

Role Objective:

To lead engineering, execution, testing, and commissioning of the 220kV/33kV Main Receiving Substation (MRSS) project, ensuring system reliability, safety, regulatory compliance, and readiness for energization aligned with the integrated steel plant’s power requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Execution

• Lead end-to-end execution of MRSS including:
  
• 220kV incoming feeders
• 33 KV switch gear
  
• 220/33kV Power Transformers
  
• 220kV and 33kV GIS/Outdoor switchyard
  
• Control & Relay Panels (CRP), Bus Ducts, CTs, PTs, CVTs, and Isolators
  
• Protection system coordination
  
• SCADA/Automation and energy monitoring
  
• Review design documents, SLDs, GA drawings, protection schemes, earthing layouts, and cable engineering.
  
• Coordinate with EPC contractor, electrical consultants, and vendors for approvals and timely execution.
  

Technical & Engineering Activities

• Finalize electrical specifications for 220/33KV HT equipment, including transformers, switchgear, protection relays, etc.
  
• Ensure selection and sizing of CTs, PTs, surge arresters, isolators, and breakers as per grid code.
  
• Review protection coordination study and relay settings for overcurrent, differential, distance, and earth fault protection.
  
• Interface with 220kV supply utility (MSETCL/MERC/SLDC) for grid synchronization approvals and metering requirements.
  
• Review SCADA architecture, RTU integration, communication protocol (IEC 61850), and substation automation configuration.
  

Installation, Testing & Commissioning

• Supervise installation of transformers, GIS/outdoor switchgear, CRPs, earthing, and cable laying.
  
• Conduct pre-commissioning tests: IR, PI, ratio test, winding resistance, tan delta, SFRA, circuit breaker timing, CT/PT testing, etc.
  
• Coordinate protection relay testing and configuration (e.g., Siemens, ABB, GE relays).
  
• Ensure functional testing of SCADA, RTU, and remote control operations.
  
• Plan and conduct cold and hot commissioning, ensuring synchronization readiness with MSETCL grid.
  

Statutory Compliance & Liaisoning

• Liaise with MSETCL, Electrical Inspectorate, SLDC, and DISCOM for:
  
• Bay approvals
  
• CEIG inspections
  
• Relay settings approval
  
• Metering and synchronizing scheme clearance
  
• Ensure compliance with IE Rules, Grid Code, IS/IEC standards, and energy metering regulations.
  

Project Control & Documentation

• Monitor project schedule and interface points with other plant areas (CPP, SMS, BF, Rolling Mill, etc.)
  
• Ensure proper documentation: as-built drawings, test reports, relay logic, manuals, and CEIG dossiers.
  
• Maintain spares and O&M readiness documentation for handover to operations.
