Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Business Excellence / Yield Improvement

  • Ensure quality compliance for all incoming raw materials through robust QC processes and feedback mechanisms.
  • Monitor and maintain in-process quality parameters aligned with incoming material standards.
  • Oversee batch charging with appropriate lot selection through systematic review and analysis.
  • Drive reduction of technical rejections via focused process monitoring and cross-functional coordination.

2. Quality Management & Certification

  • Maintain and ensure adherence to all applicable quality certifications (ISO, NABL, IMS, etc.).
  • Conduct internal and external audits for IMS and other standards; update SOPs and work instructions per latest national/international norms.
  • Monitor testing proficiency and inter-laboratory comparisons to ensure accuracy in test reports.
  • Lead initiatives like IMS, WCM, Quality Circles, Kaizen, and Six Sigma projects using SQC/SPC tools.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and environmental norms, including AERB and eLORA guidelines.

3. Cost Management

  • Implement cost reduction strategies without compromising quality or productivity.
  • Set and review raw material consumption norms to optimize production capacity.
  • Identify and execute waste minimization opportunities in processes and recipes.

4. Customer Management

  • Achieve zero customer complaints through effective lab testing and witness inspections.
  • Conduct chemical analysis of ceramic raw materials and final products; report results within stipulated timelines.
  • Provide timely solutions and information to internal and external customers.

5. People Development

  • Develop successors for critical lab positions through multiskilling initiatives.
  • Foster team spirit and monitor performance to achieve departmental targets.
  • Drive interdepartmental mobility and create Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for team members.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and implement structured training programs.

6. Safety & Risk Mitigation

  • Ensure zero accidents by enforcing safety guidelines and developing safe work systems.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA) for all tasks.
  • Organize on-the-job safety training and ensure PPE compliance.
  • Promote safety awareness through competitions and continuous monitoring of health and hygiene standards.
