Manager, Consulting-Asset Modification & Upgrade Specialist

Role Overview: You will function as a technical specialist or in a lead role, developing and applying advanced engineering techniques to complex engineering problems. You may provide technical guidance to a group or supervise engineering staff on projects of low to medium complexity, and may be responsible for developing, validating, and presenting specialist/technical output. Key Responsibilities: - Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and Black and Veatch policies - Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating engineering standards - Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines - Independently apply knowledge and comply with Black and Veatch quality program relative to assigned tasks - Ensure compliance with Black and Veatch quality program - Support continuous improvement and change management efforts - Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for larger or multiple projects - Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection - Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work - Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles - Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements - Apply advanced engineering techniques and analyze problems and methods - Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects - Assist with identification of key client interests and drivers on moderately complex projects - Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns - Actively foster knowledge management and provide mentoring - Develop and apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems - Assist with performance management process, mentoring, recognition, and any corrective actions required - Implement resource management strategy - Manage engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline - Ensure policies, procedures, and processes are effectively implemented and communicated for workgroup - Approve timesheets and expense reports Qualification Required: - Bachelor's Degree or relevant work experience - 7+ years of experience in a business/consulting environment - Certifications related to area of expertise preferred - Fully comfortable with Microsoft Office suite and especially Microsoft Excel - Industry knowledge capability in technical advisory, O&M and Engineering services, fuel switch/flexibility supports, technical modifications, decommissioning and repurposing services, analytics tools, and more - Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline Company Details: Black & Veatch is committed to creating a valuable work experience that keeps their professionals engaged, productive, safe, and healthy.
