Job Description

Job Role:

To lead the electronics lab activities during the shift, focusing on the repair, preventive maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic controllers and systems used across the plant. Ensure quick restoration of faulty units and maintain a ready inventory of tested spare modules.

Job Responsibilities:

. Supervise fault diagnosis and repair of: PLC modules (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, etc., Servo drives / Inverter drives (VFDs), HMI panels, touchscreens, Robot controllers (Fanuc, Yaskawa, etc.), Power supplies, I/O modules, and relay boards

. Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and logic analyzers for component-level diagnosis.

. Replace damaged components (ICs, transistors, relays, capacitors, etc.) as per SOP.

. Execute PM of electronic spares (connectors, terminals, fans, filters, backup batteries).

. Test repaired units using mock setup or test benches before releasing for production use.

. Periodic health check of stored drives and controllers to avoid degradation.

. Maintain a log of received faulty units, repair status, testing status, and issue back to line.

. Track repair TAT (Turnaround Time) and ensure minimal backlog.

. Identify frequently failing components and initiate design change suggestions if needed.

. Update repair history and component replacement records in CMMS or electronic logbooks.

. Prepare and update circuit diagrams, repair manuals, and test procedures.

. Support audit readiness for ISO with repair traceability

. Supervise electronics technicians, test engineers, and vendor support staff (if any).

. Liaise with external vendors or OEMs for complex board-level repairs.

. Track warranty repairs and service agreements for critical controllers.

Competencies / Skills:

Functional/Technical:

. Strong knowledge of PLC, VFD, Servo drive, HMI hardware and wiring

. Ability to interpret circuit boards and perform component-level repair

. Familiarity with soldering/desoldering (SMD and through-hole)

. Use of test and diagnostic instruments: multimeter, oscilloscope, LCR meter, etc.

. Understanding of control panel wiring, communication protocols (RS485, Ethernet, CAN)

. Basic documentation, root cause analysis, and communication

. Certification in vibration analysis / thermography (Level 1 or higher) is preferred

. Exposure to Industry 4.0 predictive tools is a strong advantage
