Direct Reports: Mechanical Supervisors, Mechanical Engineers, Fitters, Welders
Job Purpose/Summary: To lead and manage all mechanical maintenance activities across the entire copper manufacturing plant (Smelter, Refinery, CCR), ensuring the reliability, availability, and optimal performance of all mechanical assets through effective planning, execution, and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Maintenance Strategy: Develop, implement, and optimize mechanical preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for all plant machinery and equipment.
Team Leadership: Lead, train, and manage a team of mechanical supervisors, engineers, and technicians. Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Troubleshooting & Repair: Oversee complex mechanical repairs, root cause analysis of equipment failures, and implementation of effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
Resource Management: Manage spare parts inventory for mechanical components, ensure timely procurement, and optimize stock levels.
Budget Management: Control the mechanical maintenance budget, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all mechanical maintenance activities comply with stringent safety regulations and industry best practices. Conduct regular safety audits.
Contractor Management: Oversee and manage external contractors for specialized mechanical services or major overhauls.
Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor KPIs for mechanical reliability, downtime, and maintenance costs. Prepare performance reports.
Continuous Improvement: Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), total productive maintenance (TPM), and other improvement initiatives.
Coordination: Collaborate closely with Operations, Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance, and Process Control teams for integrated maintenance planning and execution.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Required Experience:
12+ years of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance in a heavy process industry, preferably metals or mining.
At least 5 years in a managerial or senior supervisory role.
Strong experience with pumps, crushers, conveyors, furnaces, rolling mills, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Required Skills:
Expertise in mechanical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Strong knowledge of various maintenance strategies (PM, PdM, RCM, TPM).
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
