Job Description

Mainframe z/OS Engineer

Key Responsibilities:



  • Install, upgrade, and maintain

    z/OS operating system

    and subsystems.

  • Configure and support

    mainframe components such as

    JES2/3, HCD, RACF, SDSF, Sysplex, USS, and Catalog Management

    .

  • Manage and troubleshoot

    z/OS system-related issues, including

    IPL, TSO, MVS concepts, and SMP/E maintenance

    .

  • Monitor and optimize

    mainframe performance, ensuring system stability and high availability.

  • Support and install third-party ISV products

    from vendors like

    IBM, CA, BMC, Compuware, and ASG

    .

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts

    using

    Assembler, REXX, and CLIST

    .

  • Perform system security management

    using

    RACF

    and implement security best practices.

  • Engage in problem management and resolution

    , ensuring minimal downtime and system efficiency.

  • Work in a Sysplex environment

    , optimizing workload balancing and resource sharing.

  • Collaborate with application teams, DBA teams, and infrastructure teams

    for system integration and upgrades.


Skills & Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of hands-on experience

    in

    Mainframe z/OS system engineering

    .

  • Strong expertise in

    JCLs, TSO, MVS, JES2/3, HCD, RACF, SDSF, Sysplex, USS, and Catalog Management

    .

  • Experience with SMP/E

    for software installation and maintenance.

  • Proficiency in programming

    with

    Assembler, REXX, and CLIST

    .

  • Experience in

    installing and managing ISV products

    from IBM, CA, BMC, Compuware, and ASG.

  • Strong problem-solving skills for

    z/OS troubleshooting and performance tuning

    .

  • Excellent communication skills

    with the ability to collaborate across teams.
