Job Description

Job Title: Mainframe z/OS System Programmer

Job Summary:

Mainframe z/OS System Programmer

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, and maintain
IBM z/OS operating system
and related subsystems.
Perform
system software upgrades, patches, and maintenance
activities.
Provide
performance tuning, capacity planning, and system optimization
.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues.
Manage and support
SMP/E, JES2/JES3, RACF, DB2, CICS, IMS, and storage subsystems
.
Coordinate with application, storage, network, and operations teams for smooth functioning of mainframe systems.
Ensure system availability, security compliance, and disaster recovery readiness.
Prepare and maintain system documentation, procedures, and standards.
Support
24x7 on-call
rotation for critical issues when required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Strong experience as a
z/OS System Programmer
in enterprise mainframe environments.
Hands-on experience with
SMP/E, JES2/JES3, RACF, and mainframe storage administration
.
Knowledge of
mainframe hardware configuration, LPAR, and HMC operations
.
Proficiency in
problem determination, dump analysis, and system performance monitoring tools
.
Experience in supporting subsystems like
DB2, CICS, IMS, MQ
(good to have).
Familiarity with
Disaster Recovery (DR), high availability, and security best practices
.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Preferred / Good to Have:

Experience with
z/VM or z/Linux environments
.
Knowledge of automation tools (REXX, CLIST, JCL, scripting).
Exposure to Agile/DevOps practices in mainframe environments.
IBM or equivalent mainframe certifications.
