Mainframe Production support

Role Overview: Our client, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, is looking for a Mainframe Production Support specialist to join their team in Chennai. As part of the team, you will be responsible for providing production support for mainframe systems, ensuring the smooth operation of critical business processes. This role requires strong technical expertise in mainframe technologies and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly. Key Responsibilities: - Strong knowledge of JCL, including different ways to pass data and JCL optimizations. - Proficiency in working with UTILITIES and Datasets. - Expertise in managing STEPLIB, JCLLIB, Instream PROC, and Catalog PROC. - Solid understanding of COBOL language and proficiency in writing Stored procedures and CICS programs. - Strong problem-solving skills, including log analysis, debugging, and troubleshooting. - Familiarity with different codes such as SQL Code, Abend code, and deadlocks. - Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, chef/puppet is a plus. - Experience with Splunk or Dynatrace is beneficial. - Previous experience in production support with ITSM knowledge. - Good communication skills and ability to confidently interact with stakeholders. Qualifications Required: - 7+ years of experience in mainframe production support. - Strong technical knowledge of mainframe technologies. - Proficiency in JCL, COBOL, DB2, and CICS. - Experience in troubleshooting and resolving production issues. - Good understanding of ITSM practices. - Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders.
