Linux Software PE Lead

We are seeking an Apps Project Engineer (PE) to support Qualcomm’s Hamoa Chrome AL compute platform, working closely with cross-functional teams across Android Apps, Core OS, Multimedia, Sensors, Connectivity, Power/Performance, and UX.
The role focuses on ensuring smooth feature integration, stability, performance, and commercialization for Chrome AL platforms in collaboration with Google.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Feature Ownership

• Drive end-to-end ownership of app-layer integration, including:

• Feature readiness

• Regression stability

• Performance KPIs

• UX validation

• Track feature maturity across releases and ensure timely closure of blockers.

Engineering Coordination

• Act as the technical bridge between:

• Qualcomm Engineering (Apps, Multimedia, Core, BSP)

• Google Chrome OS teams

• OEM partners

• Coordinate debugging and hand-off between Apps, Framework, HAL, and SoC layers.

Debugging & Triage

• Drive first-level triage for issues related to:

• App crashes

• UI/UX freezes

• Multimedia (Camera/Video/Audio) issues

• Performance degradation

• Sensor and connectivity regressions

• Provide clear root-cause indications and ensure correct team routing.

System-Level Validation

• Validate core experiences for Chrome AL:

• App launch times

• Resource utilization

• Concurrency tests

• Always-connected and multi-window behavior

• Work with automation teams to build targeted test suites.

Release Readiness

• Own:

• Feature KPIs

• Release qualification

• Bug trend analysis

• Stability & ANR metrics

• Support field/OEM issues and drive commercialization.

• Strong knowledge of Android app layer, AOSP components, and system services.

• Hands-on debugging experience with:

• logcat, dmesg, bugreports

• QXDM, perfetto/systrace

• crash/ANR triage

• Understanding of:

• App lifecycle & UI frameworks

• Android performance tuning

• SoC–Framework interactions

• Experience in multi-component coordination with global engineering teams.

Good to Have

• Exposure to Chrome OS, ARC++, or Chrome AL compute stack.

• Experience with Hamoa-class SoCs (NPU/GPU scheduling, CPU clusters, drivers).

• Knowledge of multimedia pipelines (camera, audio, video).

• Familiarity with power & performance KPIs for compute devices.

• Experience working with Google/Android Ecosystem partners.
