The
Level I Technician
is responsible for performing a variety of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods including Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), and Leak Testing/Bubble Testing (LT/BT). This role requires a working knowledge of applicable inspection codes, standards, and customer specifications. The technician will collect, analyze, and report inspection data in compliance with HMT and client procedures while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform NDT inspections utilizing MFL, UT, MT, LT/BT, and PT methods.
- Interpret and apply inspection codes, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Collect and process inspection data in accordance with HMT and client protocols.
- Safely operate vehicles within oil and gas facilities and field locations.
- Use standard computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel) for reporting and documentation.
- Maintain professional and positive working relationships with clients, site personnel, and coworkers.
- Ensure adherence to all HMT safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
- Documented classroom training and/or relevant field experience in NDT.
- Technical proficiency in the application of current inspection codes and standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to meet HMT certification standards.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
- Current AOCF and/or PMT III (DOT OQ)
- Valid respirator fit test
- OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 certification
- JLG lift operator certification (subject to HMT Safety Department approval)
- Recent (within the last 12 months) safety training, including but not limited to: Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication (HazCom)
Additional Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated with a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license from state of residence
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must pass DISA background check and drug/alcohol screening
- Willingness to travel as needed
