Job Description

Position Overview

The Legal Manager is responsible for overseeing the organizations legal affairs, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks, and providing strategic legal advice to senior management. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, managing disputes, supervising external counsel, and supporting corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Advisory & Risk Management

  • Provide legal guidance on business operations, regulatory requirements, and strategic decisions.
  • Identify potential legal risks and recommend risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the business.

2. Contract Drafting & Negotiation

  • Draft, review, revise, and negotiate commercial agreements, vendor contracts, partnership agreements, NDAs, licensing agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure contracts comply with internal policies and legal requirements.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Management

  • Ensure the organization complies with applicable local, national, and industry-specific laws.
  • Develop and implement internal policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.
  • Conduct compliance audits and training for employees.

4. Litigation & Dispute Management

  • Manage and oversee litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution processes.
  • Liaise with external counsel, evaluate legal claims, and prepare legal strategies.
  • Maintain legal documentation and case records.

5. Corporate Governance

  • Support the Board of Directors and senior management with governance matters.
  • Ensure timely filings, registration, and compliance with corporate laws.
  • Prepare board resolutions, minutes, and statutory records.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with HR, Finance, Operations, Procurement, and other teams to provide legal support.
  • Review internal policies and ensure legal alignment across departments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); Master’s in Law (LLM) is preferred.
  • Minimum

    5–10 years

    of relevant legal experience; corporate or in-house experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate laws, commercial contracts, labor laws, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing external counsel and legal teams.
