Role Description

Leather Technologist with a formal degree in Leather Technology

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimise

  finishing formulations

  (water-based PU, bio-based coatings, pigments, additives)
• Work on

  surface performance

  : abrasion, flex, colour fastness, cleanability
• Handle

  coating, spraying, printing, embossing, and colouring processes

• Translate

  traditional leather finishing knowledge

  to plant-based substrates
• Conduct and interpret

  mechanical & chemical tests

  (BIS / ISO standards)
• Support

  sampling, trials, and scale-up

  to commercial production
• Maintain

  SOPs, test reports, and technical documentation

• Collaborate with production and R&D teams to improve consistency and quality

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Strong knowledge of

  leather finishing chemistry and processes

• Hands-on experience with

  PU coatings, water-based systems, pigments, and additives

• Familiarity with

  leather testing methods and standards

• Ability to troubleshoot finishing defects and performance issues

Preferred Experience

• Experience in

  synthetic leather or coated fabrics

• Exposure to

  bags, footwear, upholstery, or automotive leather

• Understanding of

  sustainability and low-impact finishing systems
