Key Responsibilities

* Documentation Development: Plan, create, and maintain comprehensive, user-focused technical documentation, including user manuals, API guides, tutorials, and white papers. They are responsible for translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and accessible information for various audiences, from beginners to experienced developers.

* Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior technical writers, providing feedback, editing their work, and ensuring it adheres to established style guides and standards. This involves managing project timelines and priorities for the team and contributing to a collaborative work environment.

* Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts (SMEs), to gather information and ensure documentation is accurate and up-to-date. They serve as a liaison between the technical teams and the documentation team.

* Content Strategy: Contribute to and help shape the overall content strategy. This includes planning for future documentation needs, implementing new processes or tools, and looking for opportunities to improve the usability and effectiveness of the documentation.

* Quality Assurance: Ensure all content is accurate, consistent, and adheres to the company's brand voice and style. This involves editing, proofreading, and reviewing content prepared by other writers.

Required Skills and Qualifications

* Experience: Generally requires 6-8+ years of experience in technical communication, with a proven track record of creating high-quality technical documentation. Previous experience in a leadership, senior, or mentoring role is essential.

* Technical Proficiency: A strong understanding of software development concepts, APIs, SDKs, and other relevant technologies. Experience with structured authoring tools like DITA and content management systems (CMS) is often required.

* Exceptional Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial. The ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely for both technical and non-technical audiences is a must.

* Problem-Solving: The ability to analyze documentation gaps, identify user needs, and propose solutions. This role requires a proactive approach to improving documentation processes and content.

* Education: A Bachelor's degree in a related field such as English, Technical Writing, Journalism, or Computer Science is preferred.
